Cure Your Heel Pain

Your heal hurts! Is it worse with your first few steps after periods of rest? Is it worse with periods of standing and at the end of the day? The most common cause is plantar fascitis and this accounts for over 90% of of all heel pain.

Plantar fascia is a ligament-like band that attaches between the ball of the foot and the heel. When there is excessive or repetative strain, pain will start at the inner aspect of the heel. This pain can be very sharp.

Plantar fascia is most often associated with poor foot mechanics. The arch may flatten too much or too little. Frequently a fraying of the ligament can lead to bony enlargement (spur) on the heel bone. The spur doesn't cause the pain, the plantar fascia is causing the pain.

So, what caused it to start? You don't remember any injury. Most often the cause is too much standing without proper support. Look at your shoes (not the cost), but do they fit correctly and provide support? Are they worn out? Have you changed your lifestyle by standing more frequently?

You do in fact have an injury!

Your plantar fascia has been injured through a strain in the ligament and now we need to heel it.

Fortunately, heel pain subsides with home physical therapy and proper support. Occasionally plantar facitis becomes chronic and can last many months. A "NEW TREATMENT" shock wave therapy may help chronic sufferers when all else has failed.

Let's get started! You will need to make a commitment to your home physical therapy and DO IT DAILY. You will also need to go look at your shoes. Sandals are out (Birkenstock is aceptable) and you cannot go bare foot. Even if your shoes are perfect, you're going to need extra support.

DOCTORS FOOT SOURCE
Heel Pain Kit

Our kit contains everything you will need to cure your heel pain and return you to normal "Pain Free" activities.

Prefabricated Orthotics (Arch Support): This insert is used inside your shoes to help keep the arch ligament in proper position and relieve the strain on the heel bone. You may need a different orthotic for your dress shoes versus casual or work shoes.

We recommend the Tuli's Gator orthotics. It fits in most shoes and has a thin high tech graphite arch with a visco-padded heel and cushion topcover. You will need to wear the support at all times in your shoes.

Achilles Wrap: This device slips over your foot and and incorporates an elastic plantar fasicial support with a unique air bladder under the heel that provides excellent shock absorption at the most painful part of the heel. This works very well in combination with your orthotics. It can be worn while sleeping and is also worn for those times you're walking in socks or slippers.

Now you have the best support, but you'll need to do some home physical therapy. This therapy includes stretching, massage and ice. Exercises target the Achilles tendon (the tendon from the back of the knee to the heel) and the plantar fascia. Start right now and do it daily!

Pro Stretch: The pro-stretch is the most effective tool for stretching the Achilles tendon, calf and plantar fascia. Its excellent quality and ease of use makes this a valuable addition in the treatment of heel pain.

Foot Rubz: The design is based on ancient Asian Accupressure techniques. Simply roll the 172 stimulating fingers under your feet; it easily massages trouble spots. You can control the depth of the massage by applying pressure.

Stretching and massage must be done on a daily basis. Use the Pro-Stretch (Achilles stretching) a minimum of 2-3 times a day for 2-3 minutes at a time. The Foot Rubz is usually used in the evening for a 15-20 minute massage while seated in a chair or sofa. Follow the massage with ice for 5-10 minutes.

If you're following instructions, most of you will be pain free in a few weeks or, at the very least, your condition will be greatly improved. If your pain continues, we would recommend that you also use a night splint.

Night Splint: When you sleep your foot is in a contracted position which tightens the Achilles tendon and plantar fascia. The night splint is worn during sleep and has an adjustable design to give a gentle stretch as you sleep. It also helps the early morning pain and chronic pain.

Our night splint is fully adjsutable and folds for easy storage and packing. It also has a removable ice pack to get the ice and stretch at the same time.
